Melechesh (Israel) - As Jerusalem Burns...Al´Intisar (1996)

Finally i got my hands on this album. The debut of the pioneers of Mesopotamian Black Metal, Melechesh. Unlike Djinn and Sphynx, this album is closer to traditional Black Metal than Mesopotamian. Although that Middle-Eastern feeling is there, and those oriental drum beats and riffs appear occasionally. But mostly this stuff reminds me more about stuff like Marduk, and especially the album Opus Nocturne. Lots of blastbeats and fast Black Metal riffs with shreaking BM vocals by Ashmedi. Although Melechesh offers a wider range of tempos than their Swedish colleagues. So if you enjoy Marduk or similar fast BM/Norsecore bands, be sure to give this album a listen.
